The stakeholders from different church denominations in Imo State Christian community has commended the state government, the commissioner for the ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planing Hon. Noble Atuegwu for the approach adopted in managing the crisis facing the ministry hence insist that let the right things be done.
Speaking to some church stakeholders, leaders, victims of the land issues and other concern Christian organizations in owerri the IMO state capital. The state chairman for the United IMO Christian Network (UICN) Rev Emmanuel Amaefule - Ph.D assures that from his recent interaction with the commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planing, the IMO state government through the ministry of Lands are committed to implement the land acquisition laws as against the alleged scam or land grubbing allegations. He also informed them that the crisis involving land allocation in Okuku layout, Public building layout, TL layout, Amata among others are only for the best interest of the people.
According to the state chairman for United IMO Christian Network Dr Emmanuel Amaefule he said, " Indeed, it is not a surprise that l joined the IMO journalist for a media chat with the commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planing Hon. Noble Atuegwu. As a former editor of Red Parrot Newspaper and Nigeria Union Mail Newspapers. Although l have not been active in the field as a result of my commitment in leadership in the church and past government such as state youth chairman Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria and co ordinator Community Liaison Officers Ihitte/Uboma LGA chapter and Okigwe zone respectively, as well as the CEO Evidence Consult among others But l was there to get confirm information over the land crisis, accusations to IMO government and the pressure calls from the churches to me to urge the IMO state government ensure they do the right thing rather than scamming IMO people".
Again, the state chairman United IMO Christian Network Dr Emmanuel Amaefule maintained that the news of scam and land grubbing in the ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planing is false. " The issue of Land grubbing allegations by some people and media house's is not true. Most of these areas people are now complaining and protesting such as Okuku layout,TL layout, public building layout, Umuoma shared prosperity layout. The IMO state government bought those Lands for a purpose but the youths of these areas went and sold it to some individuals and organizations without government notice. Now government have come to develop their land, the youths and the victims are protesting against the government. In fact, only the ministry of Lands are empowered to acquire Land for IMO state government and approved lands for people to develop. Our ministry has continued to advocate for effective land application awareness, which encourages people to ensure they do a search for the land before buying any land with a view to know the status of the land. Again, on the issue of white paper, the White Paper said revised back to government not the community people "- Hon Noble Atuegwu said.
In another development, the state chairman United IMO Christian Network Dr Emmanuel Amaefule informed the church stakeholders from Christian community that the news of removal of IMO Zoo from Nekede and the sale of the wildlife to northern States are false. Pointing out that his interaction with the commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planing Hon Noble Atuegwu gave him the opportunity to ask questions and confirm IMO government plans. Adding that IMO state government for the best interest of the general public, only want to relocate the IMO Zoo to a new location within the state which will be made known soon.
It was gathered that the recent sales of form for Land allocation in IMO state is not a scam but assures that the majority will get the land and allocation papers.
