The Honourable Commissioner for lands, survey and physical planning, Imo state Hon. Noble Atulegwu has revealed that only state government have the right to allocate or revoked land as stipulated by the constitution of Nigeria.
He made this revelation during an interactive session with Guild of Imo field Journalist able led by the chairman Comr. Kelechi Ugo at the Imo state Secretariat on 7th August,2023.
He narrated that the state government is not interested in taking land for it private use but to override the interest of the people.
"What we are doing is our job but most times the opposition mis-interpret it gain attention from uninformed public.
He further encouraged media professionals to desist unverified reportage on the state government activities stressing that bad press can destroy the good attentions of the government, while advising them to do proper investigation to enable balance reportage.
He further noted that those tagging the government " land grabber" are those who benefits from the illegalities of the previous government on land acquisition and allocation.
He also urged members of the public to always verify any land they want to acquire through the ministry before making payments to avoid dispute.
