"Those who cannot accept the pain of defeat in an election, don't deserve the joy of victory when it is their turn to triumph".
In developed climes, when elections take place, the participants always congratulate the winner_they don't employ all kinds of political expletives, maledictions, and invectives against the unanimous winner of the election.
The reason for this act of sportsmanship, is because they respect the wishes of the people.
Those who closely monitored the National Assembly election in Okigwe South Federal Constituency, would attest to the fact that the people came out in their numbers to support and elect the leader they have confidence in.
They rejected the third term seeking former lawmaker who fell short of their expectations during his eight-year retrogressive representation.
They endorsed and elected Rt Hon Jonas Okeke of the Peoples Democratic Party, who won convincingly even in the strongholds of his closest rivals.
The People's Federal Lawmaker won his election despite some stiff inglorious attempts to mutilate the poll in favour of the defeated third term seeking lawmaker, and his partners in defeat.
The people of Okigwe South took their destines into their own hands by electing their preferred person to represent them at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
Recall that the announcement by INEC, that declared Rt Hon Jonas Okeke of the PDP as the actual winner of the said election, witnessed enchanting jubilations across the three LGAs that make up Okigwe South Federal Constituency.
This is because, the Bible says that" when the righteous is on the throne, the people rejoice".
The last eight years of representation in Okigwe South, brought nothing but retrogression, dilapidation, and reckless abandonment of the people by a man who was never the people's choice.
Take for instance: the defeated third term seeking lawmaker cannot boast of any meaningful thing he did for the good people of Okigwe South Federal Constituency. Rather, he only serviced those who were ready to postrate before him.
The people of Okigwe South who are known for their integrity, hard work and resilience came together and vowed to end the reign of darkness, retrogression and backwardness during the February 25 general elections.
Rt Hon Jonas Okeke answered the clarion call of the people of Okigwe South to be their leader. And by the grace of Almighty God, he won his election, and has since commenced legislative business.
It must be stated at this juncture that politicians should always learn to accept the political decisions of the people.
This is because, the whole essence of democracy is to respect the rights and decisions of the people.
Okigwe South Federal Constituency under the Able and Pragmatic Leadership of Rt Hon Jonas Okeke is on the part of greatness, and no stumbling block will stop the People's Federal Lawmaker from getting it right this time.
