The South East All Progressives Congress, APC Special Citizens Leader, Dr. Stanley Chinedu Nwachukwu has urged Ndigbo to embrace Agriculture as an alternative means of surviving the current economic meltdown in Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen during the new yam festival organized by the Imo State Chairman of Council of Ndieze and Community Policing held at Council of Ndieze Secretariat, Owerri over the weekend, Dr. Nwachukwu who is also the Chairman of Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities Imo State chapter noted that farming remains the only way of ensuring food security as well as curbing criminality. "An idle  man is devil's workshop. The insecurity we are currently witnessing is as a result of idleness. No busy man will think of going to commit crime. Farming has remained the only remedy for joblessness. After all, white cola job is not meant for everybody. Farming does not need initial capital to kick start. It only requires energy. The yam we are celebrating here today is produced by someone. Go to market and ask the price of yam,you will discover that yam farming is very lucrative", Nwachukwu stated.

He described yam as the "king" of all crops maintaining that celebration of Iri-ji, new yam festival is very significant in Igbo land.

The APC chieftain seized the medium and thanked the Imo State number 1 traditional ruler,Eze E.C Okeke for using the occasion to touch the lives of his people and the less privileged in the society.
