Imo State Government have set a pace by ending unemployment ravaging the entire nation by preparing and favouring over 15000 in a three month free Digital skill acquisitions training exercise.
Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri venue for the graduation ceremony of the 15,000 Imo youths trained under the SkillUp Imo project, Wednesday, 27, September,2023 witnessed a mammoth crow mainly the youth.
It would be recalled, that the Skill-up Imo Project is a digital training program founded by Governor Hope Uzodimma with the target to provide digital skills for estimatedly 300,000 Imo indigenes by the year 2026. Today's event was the second in the series as 5,000 Imo youths had earlier graduated under the first phase of the project.
The Governor, in his speech appreciates the high level of interest from Imo youths by the massive embracement of the program. He explained that, Imo State government under his watch cannot afford to remained docile in issuing to enhance the better knowledge of the people. Digital skills and knowledge have been the foremost innovations and ideas to transform the world.
Describing the graduands as future technology experts, Governor Uzodimma told them that he sees an array of opportunities in the digital sphere that if exploited will give Imo State a competitive advantage among the comity of states, which will afford Imo an enviable status of the technology hub of the country.
The Governor assured that his digital training program will rewrite the economic history of Imo State. According to him, "We have spared no expense to make you competent to fish in this digital pond, instead of merely giving you fish from the pond".
Highlighting the importance of the program, Governor Uzodimma informed the youths that the digital literacy skills they have acquired have the potential to transform their lives like a miracle and with the greater benefit belonging to Imo society as a whole.
"Our Shared Prosperity administration has set a target to expose not one, not a few, but at least 300,000 Imo sons and daughters to the digital ecosystem ..Digital literacy will make you better, no matter your vocation, no matter your trade and with it, we will break the hold on unemployment and unrest"..
Uzodimma assured.
