Newshounds have been urged to apply the true ethics of Journalism Practices in the discharge of their duties to the society.
Imo state honourable commissioner for Livestocks , Dr. Anthony Mgbeahuruike who robbed minds with Journalists in his office at Port Harcourt Road Secretariat , Owerri expressed distisafaction over unverified news report by a local tabliod that Imo state Ministry of Livestock Claim of a state wide Animal Vaccination programe started on 19th.Sept 2023 is a Fluke as they alleged discovery of Donkey meat in Markets.
The honourable commissioner described the News as a mischief with Criminal intent to blackmail the ministry and the state government . He accused the News hounds of being wicked as no effort was made to balance the report rather quoting his *GSM* lines as failing before Publications.
Dr. Mgbeahuruike told our correspondents that Journalism Practices which is a noble Profession but infiltration of charlatans has created doubts as he called for a change.
I know that some Politicians are using media to fight . Imo state government mapped out huge sums , just to ensure good health of the masses which my ministry used to deploy health and vetinary experts in the 3 zones of our state only for an uninformed personnel to go about spreading false alarm, that donkey meat is in the markets, What for? In every abatouir , there are at least One health / Vetinary expert .
Dr Mgbeahuruike counseled Journalist to distance themselves from Politicians that Excel in Propagandas and controversies.
He avowed to drag media Houses or Reporter to Court if they embark on blackmail and unverifiable stories.
Dr . Chijioke Alugbue , Imo state Livestock Development Programe Manager and team Leader for Okigwe zone Anthrax Vaccination Coordinator who displayed some Video clips of the Vaccine flagoff told Journalists that Dr.Mgbeahuruike mandated them to bring back Proof of every Vaccination backed up with GPRS as he wondered why the mischief would take place.
Dr Alugbue said so far the Ministry has covered almost 23 LGAS in the state wide Anthrax Vaccination programe. He emphasised that the Security breach at Umualumaku Ehime Mbano that week was the hindrance but assured that the govt is on top of the matter.
Our reporter recalled that Dr. G. O. Gabriel Director Vetinary Services was the team Leader for Owerri Zone while Dr. Uche Muobene was deployed to Orlu Zone.
