Daniel Bwala, the Presidential Campaign spokesperson to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, Atiku Abubakar, has said that Nigerians should not condemn President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi, for flying in a Presidential jet to Kano State to watch a polo tournament.
Our Reporters on Monday reported that Nigerians condemned the use of a jet in the presidential fleet by the President's son, Seyi, to go on a private trip to Kano State to watch a polo tournament.
Polo is a ball game played on horseback, a traditional field sport and one of the world's oldest known team sports, but is the exclusive reserve of the rich and members of the ruling class in Nigeria.
Our Reporters learnt that Seyi embarked on the trip along with his friends on Sunday to watch a polo tournament in Kano and they were welcomed on arrival to the ancient city by the state government officials.
This comes at a time when the prices of jet fuel are at an all-time high, and Seyi Tinubu’s private trip using taxpayers’ money amid hardship in Nigeria mirrors what happened in January 2020 when then-President Muhammadu Buhari's daughter, Hanan, took a private photography trip to Bauchi State on a presidential jet.
However, reacting to the backlashes that have trailed Seyi Tinubu’s private trip using the presidential jet, Bwala whose “principal” is currently challenging the victory of Tinubu as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), said that the President’s son should not be crucified for using presidential jet because he worked harder than seven state governors combined to ensure that his father become the president.
The Atiku presidential campaign spokesperson said that if many people in President Tinubu-led Nigerian government who, according to him, worked against Nigeria’s democracy could enjoy the same privilege, Seyi should not be visited with indignation, adding that those in power who gave him permission to use the jet should be blamed.

“Besides, if many people in this government who worked against democracy could enjoy same privilege, I do not think he should be visited with indignation like that.
“Besides, he doesn’t have the power to just hop into the jet, some body in the hierarchy of govt. made it happen. Let’s point the fingers at the right direction.”
