PDP chieftain to Tinubu: Redeem your image by staying clear Imo guber

By CHINYERE Nnaemeka
A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Imo State, Chief Benedict Onyewuenyi has advised President Bola Tinubu to redeem his image on the controversial Chicago Certificate University (CSU) saga by not interfering in the scheduled November elections in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa States.

Onyewuenyi who addressed newsmen on Thursday in Owerri, the State capital, noted that this is one of the ways the president can pacify the people who he, Onyewuenyi said were enraged about president Tinub's insistence to remain in power despite several out cries from the people.

According to Onyewuenyi who is the Imo State PDP Chairman of Rebrand Imo group, the certificate controversy he said is enough to warrant the president to resign, but that he, the president could assuage the anger of the people by ensuring that the forth coming elections are credible without party interests.

He equally enjoined the president to make peace with the people of the Southeast who he said have been marginalised .

Hear him,  " President Tinubu has made us a laughing stock, and he needs to redeem the image of this country. He is the ECOWAS Chairman, so we must redefine our politics. If the Nigerian constitution is being respected Tinubu ought to have resigned because of this scandal we have been hearing about him .

"But be that as it may, if he can still retrace his steps, remove tribalism and hatred for the Southeast. If all these are tackled we may be talking of a better Nigeria .

"Nothing is moving again in Nigeria prices of goods are getting higher, cooking gas, fuel, people dying everyday; he need to put the economy back in good shape.

"We talked about the past election ,we saw it as an election that was not credible, it was a scam but we now have a president, what he should start doing now is to see how he can make peace, all his cabinet should be thinking of how to pacify Nigerians and not intimidating them.

"He has really offended us ,he has marginalised the system that is making them to cry fowl, even the north. He should not allow the APC as a party to becloud his sense of administering in the country.

" If Tinubu can make peace with the Southeast, I don't think there is anything wrong in allowing him to continue, if he does that in the North too, there is no way the North will not allow him" . Onyewuenyi said.

He also added 'We have elections coming up in 3 major States in Nigeria; Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa, if Mr President means well for this country, he should hands off and make the electoral law becomes a norm for this country .

"Let INEC be fair. We do not want intimidation at the polling units, we don't want ghost voters we need him to come clean. Tinubu should remove his hands from the election in Imo State. If he wants us to like him, he should ensure a free and fair election in Imo  .

"He should do same in Kogi State and Bayelsa; it shouldn't be a must that APC should win. All we want in Imo State is who the people wants, this is the only election that will usher in a seasoned administrator, a character based man.

"Imo State used to be a tourist centre, a peaceful place ,today insecurity has become the order of the day,  people no longer sleep with their two eyes closed. For us to be free in Imo State, we need a free fair election. I'm of the PDP, the only candidate that we know that is a seasoned administrator is Senator Samuel Anyanwu popularly called Samdaddy .

"he will bring the lasting peace we have longed for in this State. With his experience as a lawmaker from the grassroot, the economy of the State would be vibrant again".
