The smile to charity slogan and service to humanity objectives of the renowned International based voluntary organization, Rotary International Club was proven beyond reasonable doubt by the leadership and members of Ikenegbu and Aladinma in their benevolent efforts to collaborate to hosting this year's quiz, Spellings, Debates and mathematics competitions for the secondary schools in Owerri Imo State in commemorations with the Club Basic Education and Literacy day.
The competitions according to impeccable sources is one of the club cardinal objectives to encourage students in the secondary schools and to pulled both human and material resources together for the massive 'back to school project" at the Government Boys College Owerri Imo State on 29, September, 2023.
A total of nine secondary schools participated in the Intelligent based competitions for the secondary schools children category to get the best school in the Debates, Spellings or Dictations and mathematics, ahead of other International Club competitions, including, Government College, Ikenegbu Girls Secondary School, Akwakuma Girls Secondary School, Methodist High College Owerri, Christian International Secondary School, Emmanuel college, Comprehensive Secondary School Amakohia, Imo Girls Secondary School and Apostolic Secondary School Owerri respectively.
At the end of the exercise, Ikenegbu Girls won both First and second prizes in the Spelling Competitions and Akwuaku Girls came third positions with cash prizes of Twenty thousand, Ten thousand and Five thousand Naira, Christian International Secondary schools won in the Debates with Twenty thousand Naira cash reward and a trophy, Government Boys College came first in the Mathematics competition with cash prizes of Twenty thousand Naira and a trophy while Apostolic faith secondary school emerged second position with cash reward of Ten thousand Naira only.
At the end, Ikenegbu Girls Secondary schools emerged the overall best with two cash rewards for coming first and second positions in the Spellings Competitions and went home with the golden trophy and cash prizes.
Describing the leadership of Rtn President Anthony Ehirim of Rotary Club Ikenegbu and Rtn President Emily Nzereibe of Rotary Club Aladinma collaborations to galvanized interest to host Imo State secondary schools competitions in commemorations with the September 2023 Rotary International Club Basic Education and Literacy month as a successful one and called for more synergy to reach out to the wider society.
In their words, "Rotary International is at it again!, September has always been remarkable for the beginning of a new academic year and is not left out in the areas of focus of Rotary International" "No wonder's, the Rotary Clubs of Aladinma and Rotary Club of Ikenegbu pulled a massive back to school project on 29th of September to commemorate the Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy month which happens to be in every September". They maintained.
Using the medium to solicit for membership into the club, mostly, from the secondary schools and tertiary institutions to join Rotary International Club as though a voluntary organizations with indebt benefits including sound moral developments and international exposure and promised to embarked on a massive schools to schools awareness creations and sensitization exercise.
