The Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Mrs Sylvia Agu has reawakened the consciousness of Imo State Voters and other major Stakeholders on the preparedness and readiness of the INEC to conduct a Free, credible, transparent Governorship election in the just coming off cycle election in Imo State on the 11, November 2023.

In a media briefing, by the Imo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Mrs Agu  addressed some pertinent and essentials issues regarding the conduct of best Governorship election in Imo State as the Commission will not be able to do it alone without the collaboration of the voters and other stakeholders.

 Prof. Agu, further revealed that the commission is prepared and committed to ensuring free and fair conduct of the elections, with collaborative efforts from stakeholders including the Leadership of the Transport Workers Union's to ensure effective transportation of sensitive and non sensitive electoral materials on or before voting will as usual start by 8:30am  to 2: 30 pm in almost 4720 polling Units across 305 Electoral Ward and 27 local government area Council's of Imo State.

She further expressed the Commission's confidence in the  collaborations efforts with the security Agencies for proper scrutiny and security of lives and property, as well as logistics before, during and after the election day.

Silvia also gave assurance of the use of functional BVAS machines at the polling centers and instant upload to the IREV after the normal sorting and counting of ballot papers or tumb printed result sheets according to the political party's  by the  well trained Commission's and adhoc staff, numbering over 21000 workers in the State.

On the issue of non collections of Personal Voters card, Prof. Agu explained that Imo State recorded huge success in the collections of Personal Voters card since the announcement was made as 2,318191 collected. According to her, collections of Personal Voters card was about 98 percent successful and she encouraged Imo people to use their PVC's to decide the next governor come on November 11, 2023, barely one week ahead.

She sounded it loud and clear that every form of Campaign will end on the 9 November, 2023 accordingly and urged all the participants, candidates and their supporters to comply with the  directives  as enshrined in the Electoral guidelines.
