It was a free flow of heavy traffic jammed as Imo people celebrated and witnessed a free flow of traffic orchestrated by the sagacity and volunteers cooperate social responsibility approach by the officers and men of the Imo State Ministry of Transport Vehicles Inspection Officers VIO on routine daily traffic check and control of vehicular movement in the major and minor Road Roundabout and junctures started from December 20, 2023 to January 2024.

This is part of cooperate social responsibility of Imo State Ministry of Transport Vehicles Inspection Officers VIO to ensure a free flow of traffic in Owerri Municipal Council and other major cities in the State including, Orlu, Okigwe, Ahiara Mbaise, Umuaka, Mgbidi and many others. 

This action followed the commendation by the vehicle users who expressed confidence in the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for his outstanding performance on roads creation, maintenance and rehabilitation as commuters witnessed zero potholes from Owerri to Orlu and Okigwe respectively.

 In a separate on the spot interviews, some commercial vehicles owners Thanked the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for reposing his confidence also in the Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Barr. Rex Anunobi (Sokom) for his thoughtful administration acumen in the sector by streamlined and repositioned  the Ministry of Transport to enhanced and ensured not only security of lives and property through Bio-Metric  Data Capture Committee but also ensure that vehicles are in a good conditions to ply the roads thereby helping in no small measure to avoid accident and reduced Carnage's as well as the services and operations of Vehicles Inspection Officers VIO and the introductions of Imo State Traffic Management Agency a topnotch, innovations and proactiveness of the ministry of transport under  Commissioner Anunobi. 

" We are happy with the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma and the Commissioner for Transport Hon Barr Rex Anunobi ( Sokom) for the sound roads with street lights we are nolonger afraid of the men of under world as night is as good as the day from Owerri to Orlu and Okigwe even in Owerri Municipal Council. We are only requesting the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma to look more inward to the links roads in the rural areas of Imo State".

A bus driver, Mr. Stanley Okoro said that the 2023 Christmas and New Year celebrations was nice to the transporters even on the hike in the cost of fuel but the road was a hitfree giving the control of vehicular movement by the Vehicle Inspection Officers VIO. 
An Officer of VIO who never want his name mentioned said that they are on a Command Assignment to ensure that Imo State witnessed a free flow of traffic before during and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations. 

"We are here to do the needful to ensure traffic is free and to monitor vehicle users. We are not contravening any vehicle all we want to achieve is to make sure that there is good, smooth and free flows of traffic".

When contacted a staff in Imo State Ministry of Transport,  said that the VIOs were deployed to help other security Agencies to ensure that the State is traffic free and commended the volunteers Officers for their humanitarian services and called on the people for support mostly to keep traffic rules and regulations.
