The leadership cold war between the Royal Father and the Youth body of Avu Community Following the  leadership crisis in the locality as stakeholders from Avu Autonomous Community in Owerri-West LGA of Imo State, have call on Governor Uzodimma to come to their aid and foster peace and unity in the locale's.

GrassrootReporters who on Friday visited the community gathered that the Eze in council  and the apex Youth body are in cold war over Land Racketeering and Land Grabbing in Avu Community.

Our newsmen had it that the cold war has been  trending long time ago until the Apex Youth body came up to unmask the evil act and other illegal activities, Land Grabbing & Racketeering by the Traditional Ruler, Eze Michael Okere.

Following how the crisis started in Avu Community  two illustrious sons of Avu in their boldness and youthful capacity made  their dislike  open to the newsmen.

Hear from the both youths, the first speaker who pleaded his name not to be printed for the sake of security purposes, in his own chronicles, said, “Yes, Avu community is in turmoil in the sense that the office of the Youth President has been in fracas and embattled discourtesy of our imposed Traditional Ruler, Eze Micheal Okere, who derives pleasure suppressing the youths because of his own selfish interests on land racketeering;

Record had it that our Traditional Ruler, Eze Michael Okere is into land Grabbing forcefully and illegal acquisition of landed properties which is  part of his day to day activities.

He has already involved the operatives of the Department of Security Services, DSS, in Imo State against the youths who are not in support of his inglorious activities concerning land grabbing;

“Eze Okere, whose existence on Avu Royal Throne is in doubt has been threatening to deal mercilessly with the Youth President in the person of Comr. Paschal Okorie, aka Ajangwo, and some other members of the Youth Council, just only because they vehemently refused to partner with him in crime especially on land grabbing where he is an expert;

“Because of the refusal of the Youth President, our unstable Traditional Ruler, Eze Micheal went to the security agencies and made some unverified allegations against the office of the Avu Youth President which was conquered, kept him in disarray and uncomfortable, even as at the press time”.

“Hence, he (Eze Mike) has no option other than his endless desire to frustrate the welfare and well-being of the youths which has obviously witnessed indefinite breakdown and crashed on arrival as he is unable to further his case against the innocent youths of the community whose hands are clean;

Continuing, another aggrieved youth from Avu, whose name was not printed, disclosed that the issue with their Traditional Ruler has been reported via written petitions to various relevant offices in Imo State including: the office of the Commissioner Of Police, Council Traditional Rulers,(Ndi-Eze-Imo), and to the office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Land Recovery;

“We want the activities of Eze Okere to be investigated especially as it is bordering on the unclear process that installed him as the Traditional Ruler of Avu during the reign of the former Imo Governor, Sen.Rochas Okorocha;

“Yes, because, we know quite sure that the process that announced him as a Royal Father was questionable. His mandate should be investigated because of his full engagements into land racketeering and alleged grabbing of lands owned by the people of Avu and the state government;

“Offcourse, his throne has remain very controversial because there are three aspirants seeking to be elected, selected or confirmed as the Traditional Ruler of Avu;

“We are hereby calling on the Shared Prosperity Government of Sen.Hope Uzodimma, to fix a date soon for a kingship (Ezeship) election in Avu for the peace to reign supreme in our locales;

“Because, it could be recalled based on our 1990 constitution as amended, the Royal Throne of Avu Ezeship should be rotational and not hereditary. We are waiting patiently for the day to be set aside to conduct an open plebiscite in Avu community;

“Now, we have three persons who have earlier indicated royal interests for the Avu Kingship tussles;

“They are:-
1.The Ezeelect, Chief Bennett Amadi, from Avu.

The Ezeelect, Chief Amati Amadi, from Avu, and


Eze Michael Okere, from Avu, who will definitely join the traditional royal race in no distant time;


“But amidst the trio, we, the people of Avu community have known the right person who is the most popular choice for the kingship-throne;

“Though, none of the trio can boast of the government Staff of Office and Certificate of Recognition as an authentic traditional ruler, unless the Ezeship election is conducted afresh in Avu land”, the duo youths submitted.

The same vein, the double youths who have chosen to sacrifice their time for the betterment of their community, while speaking further, revealed to ThePressman that their unstable Royal Father was against the Youth President and the Avu Youths Council because he (accused Eze) started his act of pillaging as at the time he embraced the sacked Imo Lands Commissioner, Mr.Noble Atulegwu Abiaso, and they in collaboration sold in front of Avu Mechanic Village to the Managing Director of Cocean Filing Station;

“Also, the fingered Eze was fully involved in the racketeering and land grabbing at Area TNTN and later engaged himself at the TNTN Extension;

“It is on record according to our ancestry history that land now known and called “Shared Prosperity Estate solely belongs to the people of Avu not to the people of Umuoma Nekede as acclaimed;

“The land that belongs to Avu Comprehensive Secondary School that was formerly leased to Hardel & Enic Construction Company, owned by Chief Engr.Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba), for the period of ten (10) which has elapsed and should be retrieved to the original owners of the land-the people of Avu;

“We are expressively calling on Governor Uzodimma to review all lands illegally acquired by some unscrupulous elements and sold, or possibly revoke the lands;

“We are aware that the Shared Prosperity Governor of Imo State, Sen.Hope Uzodimma, has never allocated any land to any individual except for public purposes since 2020, therefore, we are beseeching the government of the day to in Imo State to do the needful;

“The intact Avu Youths Council have therefore ceased this media opportunity, and appealed to Governor Uzodimma to look inward, start afresh to work directly with the rightfully land owners of Avu”.

Nevertheless, the down to earth Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Land Recovery, Hon.Prince Paschal Nwakanma (Dumdum), in his wisdom and as a grassroots-servant-leader, whose eyes are already on the ball, on hearing the information about the ugly leadership development in Avu over land racketeering, brokered peace and promised that all lands illegally acquired or forcefully grabbed must be recovered.

Prince Dumdum, in his assurance, revealed that those (Imolites) who earlier purchased forms to own land genuinely by the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma shall in due time smile, even as he disclosed that the government is perfecting plans to ensure that those involved shall benefit from the scheme.

The Imo Land Recovery Special Adviser, Dumdum, added that the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Uzodimma is passionate to wipe away the tears on the eyes of the poorest of the poor and the downtrodden.

Moreso, several efforts made to communicate with the accused and fingered Eze proved worthless, hence, his telephone lines when tried was unreachable as at the press time.
