The National Population Commission (NPC) has commended the Imo state governor , Dist. Senator Hope Uzodinma for his immense support and encouragement on the Launch and Flag off of the 2023...2024 Nigeria Demographic Health Survey ( NDHS)  in  Imo state.
   Barrister Ike Justice Mayor Jp  State  Director of NPC while  speaking  at the Launch of the NDHs by  NPC in Collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health officials at Federal Secretariat Port Harcourt Road Owerri  disclosed that Senator Uzodinma through the Ministry of Local government and Chieftaincy Matters with Algon in the state made the smooth launch and take off early December Possible.

   Justice Ike Mayor Jp who  affirmed that the strategic planning with Realization of the  Needs of the NDHS  remains the same folcrum of the Project stated   that traditional Rulers , President generals as well as Women groups and other Stakeholders show of interests and actions added gladening impetus to the exercise .
    
  Accordingly attentions of USAID, UNFPA , GLOBAL FUND ,The Bill and Melinda gates Foundations , UNICEF and W.H.O are attracted
   
     The young and vibrant Imo NPC director noted that the NDHS which usually take place every 5 years globally is used to generate Data for Planing on how to Combat malaria challenges , reproductive use if contraceptive, Maternal mortality , awareness on HIV/ aids , Fertility Preferences , Fertility in Women , Family Planning  , Fistula,   Female genital Mutilation / Cutting , Child Nuitrition , Child Vaccinations, Antenatal Care , Domestic Violence  and other Prevalent Health indicators etc .
     Imo NPC director Posited  that his Commission has successfully pulled 24 LGAs from  27LGA s  in the state , giving rise to 39 Clusters where Questionnaires will be given to about 45 Households in each Cluster  during the  Survey . 
He called for assistance and Collaborations of all by answering the questions from Federal Health Officers with NPC.
   Barrister Ike Justice Mayor recalled the relevance of the exercise as it gave rise to establishment of the be Fistula Center by former first Lady of Ebonyi State,  Mrs Josephine Elechi which now is the Zonal  fistula Center in the South East.
Dr. Kenneth Opara , an expert on the Programme from NPC Abuja , Mrs Nwanyanwu Faith HOD vital Registrations as well as Mr . Martins Uche , Mrs  Ukanwa Juliet and other staff of the Commission were on hand .
