Today in Owerri the leadership of the "NNPP" New Nigeria People's Party Imo State Chapter, has on Saturday, June 10th 2023, in Owerri, through their party's State Executive Council, SEC, have said that the way and through the back door in which Hon.Chief Ben Uche Odunzeh emerged as their governorship candidate for the forthcoming Nov.11th 2023 Imo gubernatorial polls, even as they passed a vote of no confidence on Chief Sir.Charles Mandis Duruimo, as State Party Chairman.
When having press briefing with the gentle men of the press with the leadership of the party in Imo state, the State Secretary, Nze Dr.B.M.C.Amadi, who read out the communique that was signed by thirty (30) critical stakeholders of Imo NNPP, accused the embattled State Party Chairman, Chief Mandis Duruimo, of financial embezzlement, gross misconduct and anti-party.
According to the communique signed on the resolutions reached at the end of Imo NNPP State Expanded Executive meeting held on 23rd May 2023, and it reads:" Rising from a well-attended and upon the great objectives and principles of our party as enshrined in the constitution of NNPP;
"And bcause of the avowed interest, growth and peace in Imo State Chapter of NNPP, we are high constrained to raise our voices against the actions and ugly activities of Chief Sir.Charles C.Mandis Duruimo, the State Party Chairman of NNPP in order salvage the image of our great party;
"Consequently, Imo NNPP have noted with high dismay and great regret, Chief Duruimo's gross misconducts and anti-party activities;
"Mandis has caused serious leadership damages, capable of destroying and grounding the party in Imo, if left unchecked, uncontrolled and unstopped".
The aggrieved party members who spoke through their communique, stated that the embattled Party Chairman, Sir.Mandis has been piloting in Imo with total disregard to due process, complete flagration of tenents and policies of the party as contained in the constitution of the party. He rejected and turned down all the good ideas and policies of the party given to him when during his reign as Imo NNPP Party State Chairman.
Their communique accused Chief Duruimo of embezzlement and mismanagement of party funds in Imo. That, he decieved the party State Treasurer, Mr.Chinonso Mbachu, coerced and forced him to sign about twenty (20) leaves of party's cheques upfront, so that, he could have unhindered access to bank account of the party and withdrawal at will, without due process.
Later, it was discovered that the party's account was drained,and all the money deposited into the account were withdrawn without the knowledge of other signatories nor any of the state executive member.
They recalled that on the 24th Feb.2023, eve of the Presidential and National Assembly elections, the State Chairman, Duruimo ran away with the INEC-NNPP boot agent tags because he demanded for the sum of thirteen million naira (#13,000,000) from Chief Collins Onuoha, being part of the money sent for elections in Imo State Chairman seriously and badly contributed largely to the party's poor performance at the elections because our polling agents were denied access to the polling boots.
Furthermore, due to Mandis's actions of criminality and subvertion of party Polling Agent tags on Feb.24th 2023 at the party secretariat in Owerri which resulted in holding the Presidential Campaign Council ,PCC, South East Coordinator, Dr.Paul Aballa, the State Secretary, Dr.BMC Amadi, the Assistant State Party Secretary,Hon Kenneth O.Ogidi, and numerous party stakeholders, members of the party hostage by his over zealous supporters who wanted the money by all means.
Regrettably, Dr.Amadi and Hon.Ogidi were badly and brutal injured in the process that lead to the destruction of Amadi's android phone, as he was hospitalized for days.
All those abnormalities happened due to the disappearance of the NNPP agent tags which was seen later as being used by the agents of APC at the polling units in Okigwe zone extraction of Imo State where Mandis hails from.
The party however accused Mandis of single handed conducted the unaccepted NNPP Guber Primary Election for the Nov.11th polls with the knowledge of the State Party Secretary, Organizing Secretary,or any member of Party's Executive, even as he failed to involve registered members of the party as delegates at the illegally conducted guber primaries held on the April 16th 2023.
He personally submitted the name of a dummy candidate from his own town with the intention of making huge amount of money when the real party guber candidate will emerge. Though, we have made a report of that inglorious actions of Mandis to the Acting National Chairman of the party and to the National Leader of NNPP, Alhaji Rabiu Kwakwaso.
Mandis, was accused of appointing a non-party member, one Mr.Uche,from Abia State as Imo NNPP PPCC DG, whom he picked from Abuja without consultation or reference to the party executive members.
It was realiably known by Imo NNPP that Sir.Mandis, received and embezzled the sum of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000) meant for Imo State Excos for the purpose of the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on 25th Feb.2023.
The leadership of Imo NNPP in a signed petition have therefore resolved and vehemently passed a vote of no confidence on Sir.Mandis.
The party have collectively suspended and expelled Chief Duruimo as Party Chairman in Imo State based on gross misconducts and anti-party activities.
Meanwhile, the newly elected Imo NNPP State Party Chairman,Chief Sir.Dr.Paul Aballa, who added his voice, expressed satisfaction upon his victory at the election exercise that pronounced him as the Party Chairman in Imo.
He however promised to carry every member of the party along.
Dr.Aballa, said, Imo NNPP under his watch as the State Party Chairman shall deliver on the true mandates of the party,even as he vowed to ensure that his party produced Governor Hope Uzodinma's successor, come Nov.11th 2023 Imo guber polls.
Some top party officials and critical stakeholders present at the press conference includes:" the Imo NNPP House of Assembly candidate for Owerri West State Constituency, Sylvester Ohalem, Hon.Sylvanus Onuegbu, the Imo NNPP Owerri West LGA Party Chairman, Hon.Tony Duru, (the Chairman of LGA Party Chairmen in Imo NNPP), and Nze Joseph Ekenze, amongst others principal party members, who supported obvious rejection of their supposed Imo NNPP Guber Candidate, Hon.Chief Ben Uche Odunzeh, and his running mate,Amb.Godstime Samuel".
