Tragedy has struck in Imo state APC as supporters of the Okigwe zone senator-elect, Ndubueze Patrick and that of Okigwe-north House of Representatives member-elect, Miriam Onuoha, incurred a ghastly motor accident along Abuja road, on Tuesday, while traveling for the inauguration of 10th National Assembly members-elect slated for 13th June, 2023.
TheCable gathered that the supporters drawn from the six LGAs in Okigwe zone were aboard in an 18-seater hummer bus chartered by their principals.
According to reports, four out of the eighteen passengers died instantly while the driver and others sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to a hospital.
The hummer bus had a head-on collision with another bus at Agbor in Delta state, as summersaulted.
An APC stalwart from Okigwe who pleaded anonymity said four people were confirmed dead at the spot of the accident.
He said, “they were traveling to Abuja for the 10th National Assembly inauguration and had an accident. Three out of the four persons that died were males while the other was a female. It was really a sad day for the APC family.
“The rest of the victims were rushed to a hospital in Agbor Delta state for immediate medical attention. Although, they all sustained severe injuries.”
Efforts to reach the National Assembly members-elect proved abortive as at the time of filing this news.
