ACHONU FLAGS OFF CAMPAIGN AMIDST JUBILATIONPROMISES TO SACK UZODIMMA...

The Chioma Ajunwa sports field in Nguru nwenkwo autonomous community of Aboh Mbaise local government area, Imo state hosted a mammoth crowd,  13th September as the labour party candidate for the November 11 Imo governorship election, Sen Athan Achonu flagged off his campaigns.
Speaking during the well attended rally, the Director General of the Athan Achonu TAKE BACK IMO campaign organization, Hon Chuma Nzeribe asked the Imo electorate to vote Sen Athan Achonu who he said will lift the state from the pit it has been thrown into by the present administration in the state under Sen Hope Uzodimma. He said the fact that Sen Achonu chose his running mate, Hon Tony Nwulu from the area should motivate them to vote Sen Achonu.
Hon Nzeribe who is from the Orlu zone of the state where the governor, Sen Hope Uzodimma hails from categorically said that the entire Orlu zone has rejected the governor  for misrule and the bloodshed recently witnessed in the state especially in the Orlu zone and appealed to the people of Aboh Mbaise to vote wisely.
Hon Tony Nwulu, the  running mate of Sen Achonu told his brothers and sisters from Aboh Mbaise that Sen Achonu is the best candidate to take back Imo state from Sen Uzodimma describing him as a goal getter, highly assesible, humane and also as an individual with a burning passion to liberate and develop the state and urged the people to vote him come November 11th.
Chief charles Ugommuo, a prominent leader of the party in the area said there is no other candidate for consideration in the election apart from Sen Achonu.
Chief charles Ugommuo, who is a retired Acting Inspector General of police, AIG and also a  contestant in  the state's Labour party governorship primary election alongside Sen Achonu and others said Sen Achonu clearly won the primaries based on his popularity and personality adding that he had no option than to join him to liberate the state from its present predicament and reaffirmed that Sen Achonu remains the only governorship candidate of their party.
Assisted by the local government chairman of the party, he  then went ahead to present the flag of the party to Sen Achonu and announced that every one in labour party has collapsed into the Achonu project.
In his address, Sen Achonu told the large audience of supporters from Aboh Mbaise that he is the only candidate for the election as the others especially incumbent Governor Uzodimma of the APC and Sen Samuel Anyanwu of PDP have no reason to be in the race.
He said Sen Uzodimma should have been advised not to be in the race as he has performed below zero percent in governance especially in the area of securing the lives and property of the citizenry whose blood he said are shed every day by armed hoodlums.
Sen Achonu said it is irrationality on the part of the governor to even seek a second tenure when his first tenure was smeared by endless blood letting, misrule, embezzlement of the state treasury and intimidation adding that he is suprised that the governor whose Orlu zone has become a ghost town and headquarters of terrorist groups under his watch should imagine a second tenure in the first instance.
Sen Achonu who said it is unfortunate that social events like weddings, burials and even church activities no longer hold in the Orlu zone due to insecurity added that the imposition of Sen Uzodimma on the state remains the greatest misfortune and calamity to befall the state emphasising that he is bent on chasing him away from the government house.
Sen Achonu regretted the sack of former Governor Emeka ihedioha, a native of Aboh Mbaise local government area, who he said was out to work for the state and assured the people of Aboh Mbaise that he will wipe away their tears by chasing Sen Uzodimma out of the government house with their votes.
On Sen Samuel Anyanwu, he said he is not fit to contest as he has never left any legacy for his people of Ikeduru local government since he entered politics.
Sen Achonu said he as a senator who served in the same senate with both Governor Uzodimma and Sen Anyanwu transformed his local government of Ehime Mbano through construction of quality roads and establishment of strong businesses while the other two candidates have never done a single road till date.
He said Sen Anyanwu has shown his selfishness and personality by holding onto both his party's National secretaryship and also the state's governorship ticket at the same time even after calls have been made to him to relinquish one of the offices.
Speaking further, he said he is one of the highest employers of labour in the state and one of the highest industrialists in the state who has always believed in bringing his businesses home to the state to create employment and develop the state adding that the other two co contestants have never established any business in the state talk more of creating employment for the youths in the state.
He further said he is poised to eradicate insecurity in the state and also conduct local government elections within months of assuming office as governor and asked the people to vote him to take back Imo for them.
He said he lost an arm fighting to stop the massacre of the Igbos during the civil war insisting that he will never allow what he lost an arm fighting for to be witnessed again by his people under the Uzodimma administration.
He assured the people that their votes will be protected and can never be stolen as he has deployed strategies to checkmate electoral fraud, rigging and ballot box snatching which he said Governor Uzodimma is known for.
Cultural troupes and other side attractions graced the  well attended rally.
