Ahead of the first Imo new Yam festival, Eze Dr. E. C . Okeke , Uzeudo 111 Amaifeke, Orlu has called on Ndigbo to develope more interests in Igbo Cultures and traditions to attract More blessings from God.
His Royal Majesty , Eze Dr. E. C . Okeke who is the Chairman of all Royal fathers in Imo state while robbing mind with Imo Journalists at EzeImo Palace Mbari square Owerri Tuesday disclosed that NDIGBO ought to trace where they Came from as well as explore ways of getting better.
Eze Okeke said New yam festival in Igbo tradition is a Period of Thanks giving to the gods and Creator of Earth and everything therein.
Our Correspondent at the gathering disclosed that the IMO Monarch expressed reservations that NDIGBO appear to have submerged Igbo customs and Traditions to Western Civilizations .
In his words Christ Proved customs and Traditions when he turned Water to Wine at a Wedding Ceremony .
The Head Imo Monarchs asked NDIGBO to reflect on the Mystries of Corn , Yam Seedlings being Planted by Farmers , Only to get fat tubers, Plenty Seeds of the Maize etc in under 6 to 7 Months in the Farm.
" It's unfortunate that History has been removed from our School Curricula today by only God knows what. '' he asserted.
NDIGBO must begin to Come back to realities , bring back our evaporating Cultures . This is why we are hosting our Imo first New yam festival billed on Saturday 22nd and 23 Rd of this Month September 2023.
The Programme is featuring Empowerments as encouragements to Widows and rural Constituents who have Chosen Agriculture, Farming for their Sustainability. We are also having a Competition for best Igbo Language Speakers , and best dressers of Igbo Cultural Designs . Our Maidens Would also be appreciated as a way of Preparing our Youths in Marriages.
The Eze Imo disclosed that guests and eminent traditional Rulers from the western and Northern Parts of Nigeria are being Expected for this Maiden new Yam festival.
Some traditional Rulers that were present at the event included. HRH Eze M .C Nwokoma ksc , Jp . The Okaa omee of Umuokane, HRH Eze Ndi Nkwesi , HRH Eze Eric Uchegbu , Ano of Agbaja Ehime Mbano and many others.
