The President of Imo State Amalgamated Markets and Traders Association, ISAMATA,Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie has reaffirmed the support of his association members to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday at Dan Anyiam Stadium during the flag-off campaign of APC for Governor Hope Uzodimma's re-election bid,Hon. Ezeanochie popularly called "Chenco" disclosed that traders formed about 72% of Imo State population adding that they have both tangible and intangible reasons to re-elect Governor Hope Uzodimma as Imo State Governor in the forthcoming off-cycle Governorship Election in the State.
He stated that apart from Governor Hope Uzodimma's tangible achievements like road infrastructure, building and equipping hospitals, rehabilitation of schools and pipe-borne water scheme, intangible strides such as approving #40,000 minimum wage for Imo State workers, payment of pensions and salaries as at when due and adoption of due process in carrying out government policies.
According to him,"every market in Imo State is now wearing a new look. Look at modern facilitated toilets in our markets. No more touting and multiple tolls in our markets. We are grateful to our dear Governor Hope Uzodimma. And we have no other option than to re-elect him come 11th November,2023".
In furtherance, the ISAMATA President insisted that the presence of the former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and his son in-law,Ugwumba Uche Nwosu at the event of the official flag-off rally for Uzodimma's re-election has dislodged gubernatorial candidates of the opposition parties.
He stated that the appearance of the duo political heavy weights amidst other political gladiators across the country has sent some of the Guber candidates "packing". "This re-union shows that APC in Imo State remains an indivisible family. This development has also cleared the rumour that former Governor Rochas Okorocha is working for opposition parties. The signal is that no more opposition parties in Imo State",he stated.
