Candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming guber poll, Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy), has promised to create 10,000 jobs to positively engage Imo people particularly youths within 100 days in office as governor.
He said one of the ways to engage youths meaningfully is through agriculture: poultry, fishery, production of yam, maize, cassava including palm and rubber plantations among others, insisting that his government would equip the people with seedlings, tools, give them grants to encourage them to indulge in active farming to feed properly, as well as enhance surplus food production and food security.
Anyanwu made the promise while having an exclusive chat with journalists at his house in Owerri, weekend.
He stressed that in his 100 days in office he would revamp the abandoned Adapalm Plantation, Imo Rubber Estates (situated at Obitti and Umuokpo communities), Avutu Poultry Farm (Obowo), among other numerous neglected public farms and plantations which he added will generate over 10,000 employments, as well as strengthen economy of Imo State for improved development, relaxation and joy, affirming that he has good plans to train and equip youths/graduates on mechanized farming who will in turn help to improve agriculture, adding that high breed seedlings will be provided for farmers to enable them cultivate surplus food and generate huge proceeds.
"Agriculture is going to be our priority, for we must secure our people through surplus food and food security. Agriculture is not made for the aged, youths should be encouraged to do active (mechanized) farming to become independently rich", Anyanwu posited.

The PDP candidate appealed to Imo electorate to vote for him to enable him emerge winner in the contest to make Imo State safe again, reiterating that he has good leadership qualities, qualities he affirmed had distinguished him in the local government system, House of Assembly and the Senate.
He advised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to redeem its dented image by not allowing some of the candidates and other politicians use it to scuttle the will of the people in the November 11 2023 guber election, just as he urged security agents to ensure that they secure voters during and after the election to avoid violence and death.
