Abia State was before now in a messy state, and no one really cared. It is not like the previous government never had any initiative for the state, they did, but wrong ideology had always undermined everything and the state had remained with no visible progress.
Every government in the past had been in an insincere struggle to establish a legacy project to stamp their name in order to make people feel they were working, and win them over for the next election. Most often, some of the so-called legacy projects fall short of standards. In most cases, existing infrastructures were allowed to decay while the government struggle to erect a substandard ones they can tag their name. In the end of the day, the state would have nothing to fall back on. We have a situation where, both existing and newly commissioned were not serving the people. The people of the state loses out in this legacy rat race.
H.E Dr. Alex Otti , is a man who has come with a fresh ideology which is a complete departure from the old ways. He believes in fixing the existing infrastructures and upgrade them to standard to serve the people, than egocentric chase of pseudo legacy projects. What the people need is a functioning hospital irrespective of who built it. Of what need will it be to abandon an existing specialist hospital to go comatose simply because it was built by former governments? Was the hospital not built from the state's resources? Was it not built to serve the people? If the hospital is not serving the people, whose job is it to make it functional? The governor exercised his duty by closing down the specialist hospital for renovation, re-equiping and upgrading. He has not committed any wrong doing by reopening the hospital after the upgrade. He should be commended.
The opposition has shown her poor understanding of government and have once again worn shame like a filthy garment to dance on the social media in the bid to discredit the governor. They claimed the governor commissioned a project done by TA Orji. This mindset was what kept the state in the dark, and 24 years of democracy under them had earned us zero dividend. They should know that government is a continum and not a race of ego. It is a race to make the lives of the people better.
