Obibi Uratta Monarch,Eze Uwaleke Celebrates new yam festival in grand style.

The traditional ruler of Obibi Uratta Autonomous Community in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State,HRM Eze Professor Amobi Uwaleke(Eze Udo IV of Obibi Uratta)on Saturday 25th November,2023 celebrated "Iri-ji" means new yam festival in grand style.

Speaking at his Umuorii Palace,Eze Uwaleke disclosed that the New Yam festival of Obibi Uratta Autonomous Community is a yearly event that normally take place in November when yam crop is matured for harvest.

He thanked the Almighty God for safety of farmers in his community throughout the farming season and 2023 bumper harvest.

The first-class traditional ruler  further thanked the people of Obibi Uratta Autonomous Community for their show of love and peaceful disposition,mostly Ndi Oha Uratta, Palace Chiefs and Cabinet members, members of all the Villages, Umuoba, Umuorii,  Umunahum, Okwu and  Ndi Iyom,   Ndi Mgboto and many others.

The highlights on the occasion were the moment of displaying of cultural dances, masquerades by different villages of the Community.
While Eze Uwaleke was flanked by his counterpart traditional ruler of Amawom Community in Owerri Municipal Council Area of the State,HRH Eze Peter Njemanze among others during the cutting of the new yam.

Similarly,the Eze Udo IV of Obibi Uratta Autonomous Community seized the occasion and congratulated the State Governor,Senator Hope Uzodimma for his overwhelming victory during the just concluded Imo State off-cycle Governorship election held on November 11 2023. 

According to him what played out during the last election was the evidence of good performance of Governor Hope Uzodimma in Imo State which he pointed out that the people of Obibi Uratta Autonomous Community are major beneficiary through the ongoing road rehabilitation project that cut across MCC Road to Umuorii-Obibi Uratta.
