Center for social awareness, advocacy and ethics (CSAAE) have appeal to government and private  sector organizations, religious bodies to synergize to rescue dwindling system of primary health care system and schools in the southeast region.

The founder Center for social awareness advocacy and ethics (CSAAE )Mr. Goodwill Agbagwa made this appeal at their South East public primary education and health care delivery report and local government good governance award for 2021/2022 held in owerri on Thursday 14th December 2023.

According to him, we launched the local government good governance monitor (LGGM) project with the aim to advance good governance at the local government level in Nigeria, with funding from open society initiative for west Africa (OSIWA) we built the capacity of 190 youths known as LGGM champions to monitor public primary education and health care delivery in the southeast, using the public service index developed by CSAAE analysts.

The project lasted for 23 months, within this period the LGGM visited 1387 public primary schools and 534 primary health care centers in the southeast during the data collection phase project. They also visited 95 local government offices in south east to access primary education and health care budget as well as to engage the local government officials on quality, inclusive and efficient public primary education and health care delivery.

He also noted that the main objective of of the LGGM project is to advance good governance and ensure positive reinforcement, performance evaluation and public recognition of the best performing local governments.

The LGGM project lead Sct. Francisca Ekwonu in her speech said that universal basic education commission (UBEC) and national healthcare development agency (NPHCDA) have established minimum standard for the operation of primary education and health care sector in Nigeria respectively while appealing to organizations to channel their resources towards adopting and revamping primary school and healthcare center as they roll out their year 2024 budget for better education and health care system.

" From our findings  it is clear that our primary education and health care system in the southeast need urgent interventions, it is pertinent that all government, development organizations, private sector, religious bodies, communities and individuals work together to rescue these systems and improve their standard.

Highlight of the event includes recognition and awarding best performing LGA chairmen in primary education delivery and primary healthcare delivery.
