In a startling revelation, the traditional ruler of Ugbele- Aka Autonomous Community in Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State, HRH Eze Peter Ukaonu, finds himself entangled in a web of serious accusations. Rev Vincent Durugbor, a prominent figure within the community, has come forward, accusing the ruler of engaging in kidnapping, fraud, and contempt of court.
Durugbor, addressing the Newsmen in Owerri, shed light on the alleged nefarious activities of Eze Ukaonu, attributing his purported amputation to the ruler's dubious and heinous conduct within the community. The accusations, if proven true, could significantly tarnish the reputation of the traditional ruler and raise questions about the efficacy of the local governance system.
One of the grave allegations brought forth by Durugbor was his claim that Eze Ukaonu ascended to the throne without possessing a West Africa Examination Certificate. This assertion is currently the subject of a legal contest in court, initiated by Obisirike, adding another layer of complexity to the controversy surrounding the traditional ruler.
Durugbor emphasized that, Eze Ukaonu faced opposition from his own community town union, which formally rejected his candidacy. However, against the community's wishes, he was allegedly foisted into the position by the then-chief Ikedi Ohakim. This raises questions about the legitimacy of the ruler's reign and the influence exerted in his favor by external parties.
The accusations against Eze Ukaonu further pointed out to a larger issue of governance and transparency within Ugbele-Aka Autonomous Community. As the legal battle unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will adjudicate these serious charges and what consequences, if any, will befall the traditional ruler.
The community, grappling with internal divisions and allegations against its leader, finds itself at a crossroads. The resolution of this controversy will not only impact the fate of Eze Ukaonu but will also shape the future dynamics of Ugbele-Aka Autonomous Community and its governance structure.
When contacted the cell phone, Eze Peter Ukaonu was abruptly unreachable to react to the allegations level against him even when it's clear that the matter has remained a subject of series of litigations since 2013.
