To enhance hygienic environment at Markets in Imo State with a view to promoting healthy living, thriving commerce and industry, Lawmaker who represents Ohaji/Egbema State Constituency in Imo Assembly, Hon. Uzoma Francis Osuoha (Eze Buguma), has called for the revamping of hygiene at markets in the state.

Hence, he appealed to Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, to compel the Ministry of Environment and the leadership of Imo State Amalgamated Market Traders Association, ISAMATA, to embark on thorough clean up exercise every Thursday.

Osuoha made the call when he moved a motion on the floor of the House of Assembly, during plenary, on Tuesday.

Osuoha said he was not happy of how market environments in the state in both rural and urban areas are being littered with debris, pointing out that dirty environments are hazardous to health of traders, customers and nearby residents.

While pointing out that investigation carried out by him showed that some traders and marketers do not do thorough sanitation in their markets, hence harsh, dirty, unfriendly environment, which he frowned cause disease on traders and buyers.

Osuoha, who observed that the Motion was in line with the Health Policy of the Renewed Imo Hope Government, commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for ensuring that there is cleanliness and orderliness in Imo market surroundings.

However, the Motion was dully supported by other Members of the House of Assembly.
