Traffic gridlock that always grip Owerri, the capital city of Imo State within and after yuletide period has been a thing of past following the horriable intervention of Vehicle Inspection Operations,VIO.
Recall that the popular Assumpta Cathedral Roundabout, Control Post, Emmanuel College Roundabout, Warehouse Roundabout,Bank Road and Orlu Road always enveloped by traffic jam during and after Christmas and new year celebration.
However, the reverse is currently remains the case as the VIO officers have taken over strategic junctions directing motorists as well as ensuring free-flow traffic.
Interestingly,Imo VIO collaborates with her sister law enforcement agencies to manage and control traffic jam in the State.
Our Correspondent who spotted some of the VIO officers at Control Post observed that the men were dedicated in making sure that the Road is traffic free.
Commander Emeka Jude noted that it is their primary role to ensure free-flow of traffic revealing the commitment of VIO to sustain free-flow of traffic in the municipality.
"We not leaving any stone unturned in ensuring free-flow of traffic. It's unfortunate that some mischief makers are trying to malign our image,but I challenge journalists to stay by the side and observe our mode of operations",he stated.
Another officer, Commander James Ononogbo praised the Imo State Commandant of VIO, Comrade Frank Uche Obi for giving a facelift to the agency.
He recalled how the agency has made Owerri traffic free.
