The Senator Representing Imo East Senatorial District ( Owerri Zone), in the Senate of Nigeria National Assembly,NASS,  Senator Ezenwa  Onyewuchi has reiterated his affirmation and desire to bring good Health and improve the standard  of living by the people of Owerri zone through his concisive efforts, partnership and collaborations with the Imo state Health Insurance Agency to enroll over 10,000 (Ten thousand) persons into the scheme.

Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi point out that his decisions to enroll his constituents into the State health insurance scheme is to actualize his sustainable health interventions for the Owerri zone as he has done much in the area of health care provisions and needs to sustain the scheme to ensure that his people benefits from the wider health care provisions of the State Health Insurance Agency.

Senator Onyewuchi explained that,he got to know that Imo state Government under Governor Hope Uzodimma had done tremendous work in the health sector and particularly, in the health insurance scheme in Abuja.  He commended the governor for putting the State in the good record because Imo state was cited as a good example of the State that are doing well in the Issue of Health Insurance Scheme and promised his partnership which is the major reason for the visit last Thursday, 16 February 2024 at Ochiedike, Agency's State Office.
Praising the governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, Onyewuchi pointed out that the governor has done great work in the State both in human and infrastructural development.

According to him, his visit to the agency therefore was to personally witness the great job Gov Uzodinma has done in the agency, as well as to seek a harmonious working relationships with the agency.

Distinguished Senator Onyewuchi said his key objective for seeking a working relationship with the agency,is to make his health interventions in his senatorial district more sustainable.

He disclosed that health remains one of his core interventionist areas since he became a lawmaker, but expressed unsatisfy that the absence of sustainable mechanisms, have negative impacts on his efforts to make a quality and affordable healthcare provisions to his constituents all most impossible.

Distinguished Senator Onyewuchi who expressed delight with the enormous stride the agency has already made within its short existence, further reassured of his readiness to work together with them to deeping and make his health interventions more Sustainable and wider through to the 9 Council Areas in the Owerri zone.

Towards actualizing that objective Distinguished Senator Onyewuchi said he will set up a team that will work with the management of the agency, to come up with a blueprint for the effective and efficient implementation of the scheme in Owerri Zone.

Briefing him and his team earlier, Dr Patrick Iwuchukwu,Head of Department of Standards and Quality Assurance at the agency, and Dr Chinedu Ofurum, Chairman Technical Working Group, TWG, of Imo Health Insurance Scheme, lauded the lawmaker for his outstanding performance and eager to attract good dividends of democracy to his constituents.

They extensively briefed him on the achievements so far recorded by the Agency which includes creation of four implementation zones of Orlu 1, Orlu11, Owerri and Okigwe Zones, successful accreditation of one hundred and thirty three health facilities and successful enrollment of sixty six while the prices for the enrollment for the family of 4 persons is 60, 000. Sixty Thousand Naira only and 15000 Fiveteen Thousand Naira per individual and explained to him on the need for communal or bulk enrollment to help the Agency facilitate the scheme.

Further, Dr Iwuchukwu explained that the Agency has representative in the 27 Council Areas of the State to help in the monitoring and evaluation of the activity of the beneficial primary and secondary health centers and pointed out that the Agency also monitored the treatment of the patients in accordance with the established treatment agreement. He also said that the Agency is taking on all type of aliments including Cesarial Surgeries except organs transplant.
