You cannot talk about the Igbo history without Ojukwu. He hailed from Nnewi, Anambra State, and his legacy is a reflection of his profound contributions to the Eastern Igbo region.
As a military luminary, Ojukwu assumed the role of Military Governor of the Eastern Region of Nigeria in 1966. His leadership during the Republic of Biafra from 1967 to 1970 marked a period of notable sacrifices for a cause he ardently championed.
Transitioning beyond the military realm, Ojukwu embraced politics, dedicating himself from 1983 until his passing in November 2011 at the age of 78. His unwavering contributions etched an enduring imprint on the Ala Igbo, a testament to his passionate service.
The late Ojukwu received a solemn military funeral parade, his casket draped in the Nigerian flag adorned with a distinguished green army cap.
